What is the difference between sata1 and sata3 interfaces?

Release time: 2021-05-10 Pageview: 307

SATA 1 and sata3 interface standards differ in transmission speed, serial command, power management and so on.

In short:

In terms of transmission speed,SATA 1. The theoretical transmission speed is 1.5gbp/s and sata3 is 6gbp / S; In terms of serial commands,SATA 3. The serial command of original command sorting (NCQ) is added, and the power management of NCQ management function is added. Sata3 improves the power management function and energy efficiency.

In detail:

Transmission speed difference:SATA The theoretical transmission speed of 3 interface standard can reach up to 6gbp / s, which is 4 times that of 1.5gbp/s in sata1 interface standard. However, due to the influence of flash memory, control chip, circuit and other factors, the actual speed is different from the theoretical value (for details, please refer to the speed description of the product mark).

Differences between serial commands:SATA 3 interface standard compared with sata1, the new original command (NCQ) can deal with the transmission of audio, video and other big data content. At the same time, sata3 also optimizes the NC Q management function and realizes more efficient and stable command response and data exchange between hard disk and host.

Compatibility:SATA 3. The products under the interface standard are compatible with sata1 and SATA2 standards, but the transmission speed is reduced to 1.5gbp/s and 3gbp / s.

Power management difference: sata3 improves the power management function in order to provide energy efficiency during data transmission.
