Cold pressed terminal crimping

Cold crimping is a method of connecting connectors and conductors through special tools. It can permanently deform connectors and conductors. It is a commonly used crimping method at present. Cold crimping can give play to good mechanical strength and electrical continuity. It can be used in harsh environment, especially in the case of large current.

At the same time, the industry's demand for copper cable connectors is growing, and their applications are becoming more and more extensive. Common connection schemes are:

1. Mechanical crimping type

It is easy to install and maintain. Threaded mechanical crimping is usually used in grounding environment.

2. Solder type

Metal continuity is formed between the tin wire and the welding surface. For connectors, the most important thing is solderability. At the welding end of the connector, the common coatings are silver, alloy and gold.

3. Cold pressing type

This crimping method has good mechanical strength and electrical continuity, and can be used in harsh environment. At present, the crimping connection mode should be widely used, especially when the current is large, connect the connector with the conductor through special tools. This method can permanently deform the connector and conductor.

Select appropriate terminals and tools.

Select terminals of appropriate size according to cable size, type and installation environment;

Selecting cable terminals, connecting pipes and tools from the same manufacturer can significantly improve the reliability of the electrical connection system;

Selecting the appropriate crimping tool also includes selecting the corresponding crimping die according to the size and material of the wiring terminal.

Use the UL Listed crimping tools, molds and CSA certified electrical connectors to ensure a safe and reliable connection. The electrical connection scheme with such certification can greatly reduce the safety risk of the connection system.

Before connecting the cable, removing metal stains is an important prerequisite to ensure the crimping quality.

Remove metal residues on the conductor surface;

Check the connecting part of the conductor and remove the visible oxide;

Ensure that there is no metal residue on the conductor surface, otherwise the conductor at the contact part will be corroded;

Ensure that decontamination of all components has been completed.

Peel off the cable insulation and cable core, pay attention to the peel size and integrity, and be careful not to damage the conductor. This is a simple but important note to prevent unnecessary rework.

High quality wire stripping pliers are used to completely separate the insulating skin from the cable core. Good tools make the work easy.

When peeling off the insulating skin, do not reduce the size at will. Make sure that the wire does not peel off too long, causing the insulated cable to be exposed.

The wire will not peel off and be too short, so that the cable cannot make full contact with the connector.

Ensure that the crimping die or crimping joint is free of damage or dirt, and the surface shall have the natural metallic luster of copper core or aluminum core.

Although the preparation work is not remarkable, it needs to be careful and rigorous before the formal cable crimping work. In the crimping process, it is important to select a complete set of tools and connections from the same brand. Supplemented by your professional technology in operation, it will improve the efficiency of the whole crimping process, ensure standard delivery, and ensure the subsequent low maintenance rate.

Crimping

Insert the wire completely into the connector, and judge whether the end of the connector is completely inserted through the observation hole;

Define crimping abrasives and crimping times.

When crimping cable terminals, crimp from the connection side to the cable side; The crimping of the pipe end shall start from the middle, otherwise the crack will eventually be formed because the material cannot extend;

After crimping, the number of crimping abrasives on the connector barrel can be clearly seen, indicating that this is a reliable crimping and a method to ensure correct crimping.

Note: over crimping or insufficient crimping will reduce the reliability of electrical connection.
