Connectors can be seen everywhere in the market, such as electronic wire connectors, mobile phone data wire connectors, etc. these connectors can be seen intuitively in consumer electronic products, and some are invisible, such as board-to-board connectors and PCB connectors. Although there are many kinds of electronic connectors, the manufacturing process is basically the same, which can be divided into the following four stages:
Stamping
Plating
Injection molding
Assembly
Stamping
The manufacturing process of electronic connectors generally begins with stamping pins. Through a large high-speed stamping machine, the pins of electronic connectors are stamped from thin metal strips. One end of the large coil metal belt is sent to the front end of the press, and the other end is wound into the winding pulley through the hydraulic workbench of the press. The metal belt is pulled out by the winding pulley and rolled to punch the finished product.
Plating
The connector pin shall be sent to electroplating operation after stamping. At this stage, the pin contact surface of the connector will be coated with the required metal coating. A kind of problems that may occur in the stamping stage, such as pin distortion, fragmentation or deformation, will be found in the process of sending the stamped pin into the electroplating equipment. Such quality defects are easy to detect.
Injection molding
The rubber shell seat of the electronic connector is made in the injection molding stage. The usual process is to inject the molten plastic into the metal matrix and then quickly cool it to form. The so-called leakage occurs when the molten plastic fails to completely fill the fetal membrane, This is a typical defect to be detected in the injection molding stage. Other defects include the filling or partial blockage of the sockets (these sockets must be kept clean and unblocked so that they can be correctly inserted into the pins during final assembly).
Assembly
The final stage of electronic connector manufacturing is finished product assembly. There are two ways to connect the electroplated pin with the injection box base: single pair insertion or combined pair insertion. Separate opposite insertion refers to inserting one pin at a time; For combined pair insertion, multiple pins are connected with the box base at the same time.
