Characteristics and development trend of common connectors

Connector is the bridge of transmitting signal and turning on current in electronic equipment. There are many kinds. The choice of connector is also different in different application environment, frequency and object. The most common connectors are BTB connector , FPC connector, FFC connector, RF connector, etc.

1、 BTB connector


The BTB connector with the strongest transmission capacity in today's connector product types can be connected to PCB board to realize mechanical and electrical connection. It is mainly used in network, communication, electric power, medical treatment, industry, finance, affairs and other fields.


BTB connector Narrow piece contact mode is often adopted, which is characterized by the paired use of male and female seats. It mainly has three basic properties: electrical performance, mechanical performance and environmental performance. 2. FPC connector.


Also known as flexible printed circuit board, it is made of bendable material and is used to connect the display to the driving circuit. FPC connector has the characteristics of miniature, compact and high-density integration, which can effectively save space, simplify wiring procedures and save labor costs. The utility model has the advantages of folding, light and flexible application.

3. FFC connector.


FFC connector is a new type of data cable made of pet insulating material and extremely thin tinned flat copper wire, which is pressed by the production line of high-tech automation equipment. Therefore, it is also called flexible flat cable connector. It is widely used in copiers, scanners, plotters, fax machines, audio and other products. It can connect signal transmission and motherboard.


FFC connector has the characteristics of small volume, thin thickness, simple connection, convenient disassembly, soft, random folding and easy to solve electromagnetic shielding (EMI).


Compared with FPC connector, FFC connector forms different lines. FFC connector is a flexible printed circuit, which is made of flat copper foil sandwiched between the upper and lower insulating foil films. The finished product is relatively simple. FPC connector is a flexible circuit board. FCCL (flexible covered copper foil) is chemically etched to obtain circuits with single-sided, double-sided and multi-layer structure


4. RF connector.


RF connector is a radio frequency coaxial connector. It is a product of mechatronics. It is an indispensable and important component of coaxial transmission system. It mainly plays a bridge role.


There are many varieties and specifications of RF connectors, which basically rely on the mechanical structure to ensure the electrical characteristics. It is often considered to be installed on the cable or on the instrument as an electrical component for gas connection or separation of transmission line. At the same time, RF connector is an important part of electrical connector. It is developing towards standardization, serialization and generalization with the trend of multi-function, miniaturization, high frequency, low standing wave, low loss, large capacity and high power.
