Volkswagen temporarily stopped production of electric vehicles in Germany due to supply chain problems

Release time: 2021-11-19 Pageview: 207

On November 17, due to problems in the supply chain, Volkswagen had to suspend the production of two German electric vehicle plants and will stop production for a week. The move will affect the supply of electric vehicles for several brands of the German carmaker.

Previously, German media reported that: "Up to now, Volkswagen's electric vehicle production has been very cautious in the chip crisis. When the golf and Tiguan series production lines often stagnate in Wolfsburg, Volkswagen's electric vehicles give priority to semiconductor supply. Therefore, the production of electric vehicles in zweikao and Dresden has continued without serious interruption.

However, at present, the shortage of chips seems to have intensified, and the company is unable to maintain the production of electric vehicles. The report says that Volkswagen will suspend the production of electric vehicles at two German factories for a week. The report points out: "Now, the chip crisis has also affected the production of Volkswagen electric vehicles. Production will be suspended in zweikao and Dresden this week. In addition, Audi and Cupra models will also be affected. Therefore, the production of Volkswagen electric vehicles will be reduced by 5000.

Zweikao plant is responsible for the production of Volkswagen id.3, id.4, Audi q4e Tron and cupraborn. It is foreseeable that the supply of such vehicles will be limited in the short term.
