Five most common types of fiber optic connectors

1. FC type Optical fiber connector 。

The metal sleeve is externally reinforced, and the fastening method is screw button. It is generally used on ODF side, and the wiring rack is used most.

2. SC type Optical fiber connector 。

The connector connecting GBIC optical module or ordinary optical fiber transceiver has a rectangular shell, and the fastening method adopts pull trigger type without rotation. It is most commonly used by routers and switches.

3. St type Optical fiber connector 。

Its shell is round and is often used in optical fiber distribution frame. The fastening method is screw fastener. In 10base-f connections, connectors are usually st type.

4. LC type Optical fiber connector 。

The connector connecting SFP module is made of module socket (RJ) interlocking mechanism which is easy to operate. (commonly used by routers)

5. Mu type connector.

The connector adopts 1.25mm diameter casing and self-protection mechanism, which has the advantage of high-density installation. NTT has developed Mu connector series using Mu's l.25mm diameter casing.

These are also used for socket type connectors (mu-a Series), backplane connectors (mu-b Series) of self-protection mechanisms for connecting cables, simplified sockets for LD / PD modules and plugs (mu-sr Series), etc. With the rapid development of optical fiber network towards greater bandwidth and capacity and the wide application of DWDM technology, the demand for mu connector will also increase rapidly.
